Adapting Europe to climate change: a crucial issue in 2025
2025 is an opportunity for Climate Chance to actively pursue its actions and go one step further: ‘Adaptation: taking action’.
In 2024, as part of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Climate Chance and Wallonia organised a gathering of climate actors on the theme of ‘Adaptation to climate change, nature-based solutions and resilience’.
The Summit, the first European event to bring together non-state actors dedicated to adaptation to climate change, was a remarkable success. It concluded with the Liège Declaration: advocacy messages and concrete recommendations from non-state actors for adapting Europe to climate change.

2 highlights for Climate Chance in the first half of 2025:
- The next Climate Chance Europe Africa Summit, organised with the city of Marseille, will be held at the Palais du Pharo on 31 March and 1 April. The Summit, and its advocacy deliverable, will mark a new milestone, essential for strengthening European adaptation strategy and policies, cooperation between Europe and Africa, and the efforts to be made collectively on these issues.
- A 1st synthesis report of adaptation actions in Europe by the Climate Chance Observatory: key findings unveiled at the Summit and full report published in June.
