Green Leadership Time
The YAC programme: training in leadership and green entrepreneurship to equip the population, particularly young people and women, with concrete actions in the field.
Overview of the project
The main objectives of this project are to
-To strengthen the concepts of all players in the field of green leadership and the circular economy through training workshops and panels led by experts.
– To hold a workshop with all the stakeholders in the city (architects, town planners, urban managers), including the municipality benefiting from the green project, to discuss a standard municipal development plan.
– Set up a green project in a municipality selected at random or through a competition, to transform an unhealthy area into an attractive, environmentally-friendly area in a sustainable way.
– Reward those who have distinguished themselves through their activities in the field of women’s leadership and/or green leadership.
– Set up a network with the Programme’s various partners.
Calls are being made to municipalities wishing to benefit from the programme, to those wishing to take part in the webinars and to those wishing to contribute through the workshop.
The programme’s various activities include
– A drawing competition for children called the “GLT Kids competition”, with a theme related to sustainable cities, climate change or a field related to environmental protection.
– Theoretical webinars with experts from a variety of backgrounds, followed by masterclasses in the morning and evening.
– A 3-day face-to-face workshop in which participants are selected according to their profile to work on a development project identified by the municipality hosting the event. The groups are very cosmopolitan but necessarily include architects or town planners.
– A ceremony at which the final projects are presented and the mayor decides on the best project. At the same ceremony, the children in the competition are awarded prizes.
Train local people in climate change and, with them, develop them in a sustainable way.
Ongoing research
project still in progress
350 of the 200 young people expected took part in the online training course.
A wide range of professions were involved, from journalists to painters and mayors from other countries. Incredible proposals were put forward by 5 groups of 5 each and presented to the Agoenyivé town council, represented by one of its officials. As a result, a green project to transform an insalubrious area into an attractive and ecological space in a sustainable way was conceived as planned.
22 certificates of honour for their contribution to the development of the Carrefour bleu in the commune of Agoenyivé 1 were distributed.
11 countries joined us for the training courses (TOGO, BENIN, BURKINA-FASO, IVORY COAST, MALI, CAMEROON, SENEGAL, NIGER, CHAD, EQUATORIAL GUINEA, GUINEA and MOROCCO).
In terms of quality, we were pleasantly surprised by the turnout, which exceeded expectations.
Since this pilot operation in the commune of Agoenyivé 1 (maritime region), the commune itself has taken the initiative to carry out other development projects.
The project has been implemented and the commune is now more attractive, with many clean-up initiatives.
The project has now achieved 10 MDGs, and an active network of alumni from the programme has been formed and continues to grow.
New partners have offered to support the initiative from time to time. Participating countries are open to replicating the initiative in their own countries.
The municipality in question has become a benchmark and is cited as an example by other municipalities to change their own faces.
This project was financed by 2 types of funds:
-own funds
- 80% subsidy from a fund for a competition organised by the Ministry of Youth on the occasion of International Youth Day
