Healthy Environment, Healthy Communities
Through this project, the Association des Femmes pour l'Autopromotion / Women's Association for Self-Promotion (AFAP) is committed to sustainably improve the resilience of local Chadian communities to the effects of climate change.
Overview of the project
The “Healthy Environment, Healthy Communities” initiative aims to inform, educate and communicate with communities on how to improve their living conditions through a healthy and sustainable management of everything around them; combining the manners, social skills and know-how in the management of the land.
This involves implementing a family farming project that takes into account environmental restoration through reforestation and improvement of the food supply, therefore improving agricultural conditions in order to fight against malnutrition and food security. This initiative requires development actions synergy between the promotion of promising sectors and agricultural value chains, necessitating networking among value chain actors.
Overall Objective
Contribute to sustainably improving the resilience of Chadian local communities to the risks and effects of climate change.
Specific Objective
Strengthen the capability of small-scale agricultural producers to develop diversified crops adapted to climate risks, while preserving the environment and practising reforestation.

Realisation of 10 hectares of corn, implementation of 1,000 plants in a nursery.
Response to the UN's World Food Programme's call for expression of interest.

AFAP is a development association that aims to improve women’s lives with the ambition of bringing about sustainable social change and improving the living conditions of children, young people and the community through the following areas of intervention:

- Access to drinking water;
