Introduction to renewable energies in the rural tourism sector

The Souss Massa region in Morocco is helping to mitigate climate change through the introduction of renewable energies!

Overview of the project

In order to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions and polluting discharges, the Rural Tourism Development Network equipped in 2017 and 2018 its rural accommodation facilities in the Souss Massa region with solar water heaters thanks to the support from the UNDP global organization in the Circular Economy Project.

Quantitative results

Through this action, the RDTR will contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by up to 30 kg of CO2 equivalent per year and per unit.

Qualitative results

Contribution to the preservation of natural resources and the reduction of of forest degradation rate, as well as to the reduction of forest wood consumption.
