Land Protection and Restoration in Burundi
Through research, ACABID-Ibinyabuzima aims to promote sustainable land management and restoration of degraded land to contribute to the conservation of Burundi's biodiversity.

Overview of the project
Our project will be based on the following points:
- Research to help shed light on obscure agronomic and environmental issues in Burundi;
- Undertake environmental impact and profitability studies (in accordance with current legislation) of projects taking hold in Burundi;
- Protect and restore natural resources;
- Increase crop and livestock production to reduce food insecurity;
- Contribute to increasing the per capita income of the Burundian agri-breeder;
- Establish biodiversity-friendly agro-sylvo-pastoral strategies to help cope with soaring population growth;
- Contribute to the promotion of the training of farmers’ organisations (FO) for their development; and
- Raise public awareness of Burundi’s environmental and agronomic issues.

Our association was created with the aim of promoting good agricultural practices to better safeguard the environment and protect natural resources, such as forests and species threatened by human actions. To achieve our objectives, we conduct research in the agronomic and environmental fields, and assist local populations by raising awareness of good agricultural practices and how to safeguard the environment.
