Overview of the project

Belvie’s reforestation initiative aims to restore the environment, strengthen biodiversity and contribute to food security by planting 2,000 fruit trees in the Tivaouane region, particularly in neighbourhoods, primary schools and the homes of religious leaders. This project, which is part of our biodiversity conservation mission, will strengthen the resilience of ecosystems and raise awareness of environmental protection practices among local communities. Each month, we plan to plant around a hundred trees in different areas, giving local communities the opportunity to play an active part in protecting their environment. The species chosen, such as papaya and other fruit trees, are adapted to local climatic conditions and will bring economic and nutritional benefits to the beneficiary families, schools and communities. By involving the 72 neighbourhood delegates, pupils and families, Belvie is also strengthening environmental education and raising awareness of the importance of biodiversity. The project is designed to be sustainable and includes training sessions on tree care, with regular monitoring to maximise plant survival. Young people are encouraged to care for the trees, reinforcing their role in preserving the environment. Our long-term goal is to make Tivaouane a more environmentally friendly region.
