ProForElec

The ProForElec project aims to professionalise electrical engineering training in Guinea.

An initiative of University of Artois

Overview of the project

Following the opening of a subsidiary in Conakry, FLIPO-RICHIR, an SME active in the field of energy, electrical systems and automation, is directly confronted with the lack of qualified manpower in electrical engineering in Guinea. Already collaborating with the Electrotechnical Systems and Environment Laboratory of Béthune for its R&D projects, the company is expanding its partnership with the University of Artois to address training issues by developing a program tailored to Guinean needs.

The university offers a highly professionalized program, including a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Maintenance and Electrical Engineering, ranked 2nd best in France in the Energy category! With the help of the French Embassy in Guinea, the Higher Institute of Technology (HIT) of Mamou has been identified as the key partner for the implementation of a collaborative training and skills development program.

The program consists of four complementary components:

  • The rise in skills of teachers and the co-construction of pedagogical modules for the IST (HIT) of Mamou through a short study stay at the University of Artois.

Objective: to perpetuate the professionalization of the training

  • The equipment of a practical workroom at the IST of Mamou with the industrialists.

Objective: to facilitate the implementation of new practical work modules and the integration of students

  • The creation of bridges between French and Guinean companies with the IST of Mamou.

Objective: to create other project opportunities in the future

  • The mobility of some students from the IST of Mamou within the University of Artois, enriched by the discovery of the industrial fabric of Hauts-de-France and an internship in Guinea, is also financed by Erasmus + funds.

The objective is to overcome the problem of skilled labor in companies.

As part of the ADESFA call for projects, the MEDEE cluster is committed to supporting IST in its relations with its ecosystem and to promoting regional players in Guinea

Objective

Professionalize electrical engineering training in Guinea for the employability of young people and the competitiveness of companies.
