The main objective of the Pilote REDD+ project is to develop alternative agricultural production in order to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, the main cause of climate change. The project was implemented jointly with the following communes: Bangangté- Bana-Bangou.
“Concerning specific objectives, it’s important to protect the reserve by reducing threats coming from outskirts and increasing carbon stocks.
Also, it’s necessary to reduce the impact of farmling in forest areas by improving methods such as agro-sylvopastoral methods often used in villages surrounding the reserve. Concerning the technical side of the project, the REDD+ pilote project has an impact on 4,800 ha”.
