RMobility – Shared Mobility

RMobility is a carpooling platform created by the company RAYNIS to restore the solidarity and sharing experience of mobility in West Africa by taking into account the informal modes.

Overview of the project

Since its foundation, RAYNIS has worked on the design, development, and growth of the mobile/web platform “RMobility” in BtoC, dedicated to carpooling in West Africa. This application, available on all stores, is inspired by the Blablacar model and uses the principles of multimodality and intermodality to provide a common mobility service (MaaS) in West African cities.

Its operation is simple:

  • Registration and information for passengers and drivers;
  • Publication of trips by drivers (car, motorcycle, cab, or bus);
  • Reservation and payment of seats by passengers with Mobile Money or bank card (available in 7 ECOWAS countries);

In addition, RMobility Pro is the second BtoB platform deployed in large companies to promote home-work carpooling. It has been finalized very recently and is attracting more and more professionals thanks to a strong CSR policy.

Quantitative results

Indicators :

  • Number of users: + 6 000 (Benin, Togo…)
  • Number of published trips: + 13 000
  • CO2 emissions avoided: + 24 tons
Qualitative results

So far, RMobility has already satisfied a symbolic number of users in Benin and Togo. We are gradually succeeding in impacting long and medium distances. However, faced with the issue of insecurity, we are doing in-depth work to find levers for integration, post-implementation and to structure the detour of use.
In addition, the platform has led to the creation of 5 additional positions this year. Our ambition is to rapidly reinforce and expand the sales team with new competent people. This platform benefits from R&D work through Raynald Ballo’s thesis on digital and mobility in AO.

Financing

This project is financed by its own funds. A fundraising campaign is underway to acquire coaches to be used on high demand routes and to develop collaborative delivery with the RColis mobile application.
