Overview of the project
The Taparura project consists of developing 280 hectares of 420 hectares of land reclaimed from the sea by hydraulic backfilling after depollution on the northern coast of the city of Sfax, enabling the creation of a metropolitan urban centre and the restoration of coastal and seaside activities. This space-saving urban development ensures a high environmental quality and a mix between housing, tourism, tertiary sector activities and public facilities, with the development of urban mobility and a balance between transportation modes in line with the Sfax agglomeration master plan.

Ongoing research
2016
The project, whose area of intervention covers 420 hectares, has already made it possible to create a 55 hectares urban park and six kilometres of beaches along the backfilled platform to accommodate tourist and residential areas, public facilities, and green spaces.
The urban proposal selected at the end of phase one of the PAD study was based on the main principles of functional mix, social integration and sustainability.
The start-up principle of SEACNVS is based on a significant share of capital, but less than 50%, held by the State, with the capital majority held by all private partners. The desire is to maintain private status for SEACNVS in order to guarantee flexible management and operating rules.
