Urban Platform Cameroon
Expertise France is a key player in France's development policy and a subsidiary of the AFD Group. It is an interministerial agency that implements international technical cooperation projects.
Overview of the project
This project is a component of the EU-funded programme Cameroon, sustainable and inclusive green cities, implemented by Expertise France, to the tune of €4.9m.
It aims to improve public policies on land use planning for sustainable and inclusive cities by (i) strengthening land management and urban planning mechanisms and (ii) improving knowledge and increasing the accessibility of urban data, including on issues of inclusion and resilience.
In order to improve public policies on spatial planning and to make our towns and cities sustainable and inclusive places to live and work, it was vital to bring together all the actors involved in urban development to identify common problems and solutions based on successful experiences in Cameroon. This is the core of the project, the National Platform of Urban Stakeholders. The Platform will base its discussions and decisions on the work carried out by the working groups and on the data made available on the collaborative digital platform. The work carried out by the WGs will be fed by the data made available and will in turn feed into the work on the review of the standards framework. This work will be capitalised on to develop tools and practical guides which will then be made available on the collaborative digital platform and linked to the capacity-building actions. These will consist of offering appropriate training courses to CTD staff and members of the Platform – with a view to improving the efficiency, quality and relevance of urban projects. Some of this training will be made available online.
