Where the Rain Falls
Where the Rain Falls is a project that was launched in India and Thailand in 2013 aiming to strengthen vulnerable populations from ethnic minorities capacities and especially women in order to help them adapt and face the challenges of climate change and climate risk.
Overview of the project
The first phase of the Where the Rain Falls (2011-2014) project, was led in partnership with the United Nations University.A study was conducted on the way in which changes in rain patterns had impacts on the rural communities. The studies enabled a better understanding of the links between rainfall variation, food security and local community migrations (to 8 different countries). The research was conducted thanks to participative analysis tools.
Afterwards, pilote projects were launched in both India and Thailand in 2013 aiming to strengthen vulnerable populations from ethnic minorities capacities and especially women in order to help them adapt and face the challenges of climate change and climate risk.
The project promotes the importance of close collaboration between community-led organisations in order to improve access, control and management of various production resources by women.
The project also aims to improve the production and diversification of the crops as well as sources of income. A specific work on land, social and water/forest management took place with communities who also participated.
To improve climate-vulnerable populations' resilience.
