YOBBALEMA

Yobbalema proposes a collaborative ecomobility solution of carpooling in order to optimize the exorbitant flows of vehicles in the agglomeration of Dakar and the large Senegalese cities with high density.

An initiative of YOBBALEMA

Overview of the project

How does Yobbalema participate to the ecomobility and propose a collaborative solution:
For the environment. Less CO2. Two or three more people in a car means one or two less vehicles on the road and less greenhouse gas emissions

Less congestion. Limiting the number of cars on the road helps improve air quality, reduce congestion and free up public space.

For your health. Less stress. Carpooling reduces the stress and fatigue associated with driving, while allowing users to enjoy the comfort of a car and fewer traffic accidents.

More fun. A great way to meet new people and travel in good company. Carpooling allows you to meet new people, get to know your work or study colleagues better and even expand your network.

For the wallet.

Preserve your car. Leaving your car idle from time to time slows down wear and tear and reduces maintenance costs.

Lower expenses. Divide the cost of travel among several passengers.

Quantitative results
  1. Carpooling to and from work
    • Case study of Sonatel
    • We have done a survey on 500 workers of Sonatel SIEGE, 200 of which come from ZAC MBAO
    • 150 cars less per day if this part of the population agrees to carpool
    • Less traffic jams
    • More savings for employees
  2. Long distance carpooling
    • Average monthly requests: 1000
    • Saving for drivers who leave on weekends
    • Relief for individuals who find interesting rates to reach their family home during weekends
  3. During transporters’ strikes in Dakar, Yobbalema answers on average more than 500 requests / day
Qualitative results
  1. 2-3 people per car. Allowing our drivers to share their car avoids more than 90 tons of CO2 emissions per month on average.
  2. More carpooling for a smaller carbon footprint
  3. Carpooling: a solution to global warming
