Climate Chance held a press conference on 8th November on the key takeaways of the new Climate Chance Observatory’s Global Synthesis Report on Climate Action by Sector. This is the opportunity to unveil the main trends of the new 2021 Sector based-report: the analysis of GHG emission trends based on the actions actually undertaken by non-state actors in the main emission sectors.

Ronan Dantec, the President of Climate Chance Association spoke at this event.
The event will be an opportunity to share leaders of cities, local governments and regions’ in the LGMA Constituency, commitments to ambitious climate action. It will highlight their lessons learnt regarding engaging and collaboration with national governments and other key stakeholders, and will be an occasion to review the best practices for incorporating local and regional governments in the updated NDCs, and their implementation, that will be presented at COP26.

Climate and Biodiversity – acting by integrating justice and gender

Ronan Dantec, President of the Climate Chance Association, spoke in this event organised by WECF.
The climate and biodiversity crises are interdependent and disproportionately impact women and gender minorities. Actions and policies to protect the climate and biodiversity must therefore be carried out jointly, and integrate gender equality, in order to be fair and efficient. Through the testimonies of the laureates of the Gender and Climate Solutions Prize, and the experience of citizens and politicians, we will illustrate the best practices implemented at local, national and international levels.

Investing in nature: Championing good governance and rights-based solutions
Ronan Dantec, President of the Climate Chance Association, has been invited to speak in this hybrid side-event organised by Fern, with the support from the Congo Basin Forest Partnership (CBFP) and the Central African Forests Commission (COMIFAC). He will mainly be speaking about financing tools and mechanisms related to land-use.

The EU Green Deal is key to driving a successful sustainable and resilient recovery. EU local and regional governments have proven more pragmatic and innovative at the implementation of green recovery initiatives. Moreover, developing countries have an unprecedented opportunity to learn from developing and implementing the European Green Deal and EU green recovery efforts. Therefore, this event will discuss best practices and lessons learned for driving a resilient recovery in the EU and developing countries.
The power of collaborative climate action

The partners of the Climate Chance Coalition on Multi-level and Multi-stakeholder Climate Governance (Comité21, Committee of the Regions, ECOLISE, EESC, ICLEI, OECD) have been making efforts to support collaborative local climate action, make it visible to the policy-makers and advocate for an enabling framework. The webinar will take stock of the most recent achievements and propose new avenues of accelerating climate action with local communities.

Climate Chance will present the key takeaways of the 4th edition of its Sector-based report, an unravelling of the actions implemented by local governments, businesses and civil society organisations to reduce their GHG emissions in key emission sectors and adapt to climate change. The impact of Covid-19 on different sectors is highlighted, as well as how non-state actors are moving towards an inclusive transition and can support ambitious NDCs.
This side-event is organised by Climate Chance and Enda Energie.

Voices from the community shape infrastructure that enhances resilience – Advancing Urban Equity in Resilience, the Bedrock for Transformative Climate Action
Charlène Kouassi, Director of the African Mobilities Observatory MOVIN’LAB and a key member of the Mobility and Transport Coalition has been invited to showcase the work of the Coalition during an event in the Resilience Hub, hosted by PEAK Urban and Oxford Martin Informal Cities, University of Oxford, World Resources Institute (WRI), Climate Sense. Charlène will focus especially on the Global Roadmap for decarbonising the transport sector and the importance of local perspectives.
