Climate Chance’s Mobility Coalition to take part in the #RaceToZero Transport Dialogue
On Wednesday 11th November from 10:40-12:00 CET Climate Chance invites you to join the #RaceToZero Transport Dialogue on the “Sustainable and Resilient Transport Infrastructure and Systems in Africa” organised by SLOCAT Partnership and International Transport Forum.
Race to Zero Campaign
Race To Zero is a global campaign to rally leadership and support from businesses, cities, regions, investors for a healthy, resilient, zero carbon recovery that prevents future threats, creates decent jobs, and unlocks inclusive, sustainable growth. It mobilizes a coalition of leading net zero initiatives, representing 452 cities, 22 regions, 1,101 businesses, 45 of the biggest investors, and 549 universities. These ‘real economy’ actors join 120 countries in the largest ever alliance committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 at the latest.
A member of the Mobility Coalition to speak at the event on “Sustainable and Resilient Transport Infrastructure and Systems in Africa” on November 11th from 10:40-12:00 CET.
The #RaceToZero Transport Dialogue will focus on the role of fundamental infrastructure in Africa as a critical enabler of sustainable and resilient transport activities, which have the capacity to transform cities and create positive economic, environmental, and social impact.
Charlène Kouassi from the Observatory of African Mobility in Côte d’Ivoire – part of the Mobility Coalition – will show how non-state actors are already making meaningful progress on climate action in the mobility sector. She will present the ongoing work on the Mobility Coalition in Côte d’Ivoire, notably the creation of the Roadmap for Sustainable Mobility in Côte d’Ivoire. This Ivorian Roadmap was developed using a bottom-up, participatory approach that brought together various stakeholders in the transport sector for a resilient long-term transport strategy.
