The Assises were first held in Montpellier in 2019, and the second edition was held in Nantes in 2022. Their aim is to create an unprecedented opportunity to explore in greater depth and jointly develop proposals on issues linked to the agro-ecological transition, such as land management, urban and peri-urban agriculture, sustainable logistics and local supply chains. They also provide an opportunity to discuss collective catering, nutrition, waste management and the circular economy. Participants also discuss the cultural and symbolic dimensions of food, access to food and the right to food… All these themes are addressed during plenary sessions, workshops and field visits to discover the region.
The Assises are an unmissable opportunity to compare points of view, methods and levers for action to move towards more responsible agricultural and food systems, adapted to the challenges of today and tomorrow. For two days, local players can build a shared culture around the transition and initiate or consolidate lasting partnerships. Finally, it’s an opportunity to explore the Montpellier metropolitan area, a breeding ground for many innovations that illustrate the need for a cross-disciplinary approach to the complex issues of biodiversity, climate change and access to healthy, high-quality food for all.
On 2 and 3 December 2024, elected representatives, local government officials, players from civil society, the economic and academic worlds, project developers and local authority support structures will be pooling their experience, skills and commitment. 800 people took part in the last event. Numerous experts and key figures will be speaking. Testimonies, projects, studies, research, tools, methods and recommendations will be put forward by a wide range of French and international players. The conference is open to all those who want to find out more, learn more and meet others to accelerate the transition, and the evening of 2 December will be dedicated to the general public.
