Conference: Combining mitigation and adaptation to climate change, a health issue
The conference on the subject of "Combining mitigation and adaptation to climate change, a health issue" will be held in Paris on 19 December 2024.
Climate change is affecting not only the viability of our cities but also the health of our populations. Combining mitigation and adaptation strategies is essential to ensure that cities and infrastructures are sustainable and resilient in the face of climatic events (flooding, heat waves, etc.).
How can we limit greenhouse gas emissions while adapting living spaces to climatic phenomena whose increasingly frequent and intense episodes increase the risks to health?
The conference programme will include presentations by VINCI scientists and operational staff:
- Impact of heat waves and overheating in buildings with Ecole des Mines Paris-PSL and VINCI Energies
- Micro-climate and urban greening with AgroParisTech and VINCI Construction
- Soft mobility and resilience of motorway infrastructure with the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées and VINCI Autoroutes.
This meeting will provide an opportunity to explore together the results of research into how climate and health issues can be taken into account in construction and town and country planning, and to discuss practical solutions deployed in the field.
