“Adaptation: taking action”

The Climate Chance Europe Africa 2025 Summit on the theme “Adaptation: taking action” will be held on 30 March and 1 April 2025 at the Palais du Pharo in Marseille, a strategic city at the crossroads of Europe and Africa. This location is ideal for tackling the climate challenges specific to the Mediterranean basin and sharing solutions adapted to the European and African contexts. The summit will highlight the adaptation practices already in place in the Mediterranean region, while highlighting the efforts being made in Europe and Africa.

“Marseille Declaration” on territorial adaptation

Following on from the collective work already begun in 2024 at the Climate Chance Europe Summit in Liège, this year’s summit in Marseilles will be the opportunity to take a fresh look at Europe’s adaptation strategy. The Summit will culminate in the “Marseille Declaration”, a strong advocacy in favour of regional adaptation, putting forward key messages and recommendations for Europe’s political decision-makers.

1st synthesis report of adaptation actions in Europe by the Climate Chance Observatory

The Summit will provide an opportunity to unveil the results of the Climate Chance Observatory’s 1st synthesis report of Adaptation Actions in Europe. Aimed at European decision-makers at local, national and EU level, this report will look at the issue of adaptation actions from the point of view of territories. It will follow a structure that first examines the physical risks that climate change poses to European territories, then the related ‘secondary’ risks to human health, the economy and infrastructures. At each stage, the report will look at trends in concrete actions taken by local players, and will be supplemented by case studies.
