The Dakar Declaration is the result of a collaborative work led by non-state actors of the African continent through twenty thematic workshops organized around the main sectors of climate and biodiversity action. It defines the priorities for action in the coming years in order to accelerate the implementation of climate and biodiversity projects in Africa.

« The SMDC2022 held in october with CODATU and Cetud was particularly important to bring the voice of African climate non-state actors to COP 27. The Dakar Declaration highlights the importance to better balance the efforts between mitgation and adaptation, the need for more access to finance at local level, the emergency of the energy transition and the convergence of the three conventions. Most of all, we want to draw the attention to the fact that local actors do have the capacity to implement concrete solutions and are one of the key answer to tackle climate change. «

« In the Sub-Saharan African context, we need climate and energy solutions that take an intergrated approach and inclusive of youth, women and vulnerable communities. They must create jobs, bring social development, break down inequalities. Adaptation actions are underway but need to be wraped up. Loss and damage finance is essential to protect us with the inevitable impacts of climate change. It must be now, it must be new and additional to meet the needs that cities and regions are facing. The time for talk is over, we need to build climate resilience now. »
