Since 2012, the notion of circular economy, which was erstwhile more confidential, has been largely disseminated in French and European societies… to the point of entering into the law in the strictest sense in 2015.
As a macroscopic view of a regional economy, it is supported, as has been illustrated in this book, by tools which have been tried and tested and which demand, faced with environmental and socio-economic stakes, the rapid materialisation of efficient actions.
This global approach, which is necessarily rooted in experimentation and development, is systemic by definition. A good understanding of the potential offered by a multiscale approach and of the levers enabling implementation, means a clear perception of its many economic, environmental, local and geostrategic implications, both in the short and in the long term. As we have shown, it interacts directly with the issues of agricultural production and town planning, it involves the efficiency of the use of water, energy, non-renewable materials, the transport of goods and people, waste produced by our activities, etc.
For around 20 months, the Circular economy / Territory Working Group has thus questioned these interactions thanks to testimonials from a number of members, enterprises and regions. It has enabled, for each of these channels, to identify what these interactions could be from a practical point of view. Those taking part in these sessions were able to meet each other, share their experience and how they see the practical form that this transition could take towards circularity, the performances it is possible to reach, the difficulties and levers which can be mobilized or which have yet to be created.
This publication is the fruit of the work accomplished. It highlights these developments and focuses, at this stage of the maturity of the concept of circular economy, on the importance of sharing experience and good practices so that they can be assimilated and duplicated.
