Declaration of local and regional leaders at the Marrakech Climate Summit of Local and Regional leaders during COP22.
Overview
The 2nd Climate Summit of local and regional leaders was held in Marrakech on 14th november 2016, in parallel to COP22. It gathered more than 1100 participants, including 114 countries representing more than 780 local and regional elected officials.
At the closing of the Summit, the Marrakech Roadmap for Action was approved by acclamation and entrusted to the two High-level Champions for Climate Hakima El Haité and Laurence Tubiana.
The Roadmap identifies two key stages:
- Before 2017, the launching of a global campaign for the localisation of climate finance.
- Before 2020, the implementation of a global framework of action for the localisation of climate finance.
