This workshop focused on two key aspects of adapting buildings to climate change: the technical and behavioral aspects of housing renovation projects, and the role of the public sector in strengthening public policies and considering the social aspect. It explored innovative approaches to adapting residential buildings, with a particular emphasis on sustainable construction and post-disaster renovations, while examining the support that the public sector could provide to local policies and sharing examples of best practices. The goal was to integrate the social and behavioral aspects into renovations, focusing on a just transition and gender equality. The workshop fostered collaboration to formulate targeted policy recommendations for the EU, addressing the specific challenges of renovation and sustainable construction in the face of climate change. Its aim was to provide actionable ideas to shape sustainable policies and behaviors across Europe.
