Codatu Conference: Strategies for integrating patatransit into urban mobility systems
Strategies for integrating patatransit into urban mobility systems
Paratransit services are essential (and sometimes the only) form of public transport in the cities of the South, a provider of employment and transport offer at almost no cost for the public authorities. However, local authorities have long sought to eradicate this sector, and it is only recently that paratransit services have been considered not only in terms of its negative externalities, which are numerous (poor quality of service, greenhouse gas emissions, precarious working conditions, etc.).
The objective of this session is to present the paratransit sector in its diversity and the lessons learnt from integration projects already implemented, in order to develop sustainable strategies for cities that are now seeking to make paratransit services an integral part of their mobility system.
