Week for Sustainable Mobility and Climate 2022
Nature-based solutions for non-state actors in Africa
Description
Nature-based solutions are defined by IUCN as: « actions to protect, sustainably manage and restore natural or modified ecosystems to directly address societal challenges in an effective and adaptive manner, while ensuring human well-being and producing benefits for biodiversity ».
In this workshop in Dakar, we seek to illustrate how nature-based solutions are a robust response to the impacts of climate change by highlighting examples of initiatives led by non-state actors themselves including African communities.
Collective reflection on the three axes:
- Project governance: how to facilitate cooperation between state and local actors in the design and implementation of SfN projects?
- Capacity building of actors in terms of adaptation
- Access to climate and biodiversity financing
